Daniel Mwanza, D.O.
Having grown up in Zambia, Southern Africa, where medical care was rare, Daniel Mwanza, DO, was intrigued by missionaries who practiced western medicine. But it wasn’t until he met Dr. Rowland Vernon, Jr., MD, while performing with a traveling ‘a capella’ group in the early 90’s, that Mwanza was inspired to become a surgeon. “There was no stopping my desire to become a surgeon like him,” Dr. Mwanza said. “He was my inspiration.” Dr. Vernon welcomed the young man into his family and Mwanza began in his education at what was then WestArk College in Fort Smith before attending Hendrix College in Conway where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.
Dr. Mwanza went on to earn a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2006. He was also fellowship trained in minimally invasive, laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
